INTRODUCTION
Big, colourful game shows are a growing trend in live online casinos, and Pragmatic Play is certainly not new to them. The most notable release in this genre so far has been Sweet Bonanza Candyland – a robust, exciting money wheel game and a successful alternative to giants such as Crazy Time by Evolution. It seems Pragmatic is taking another swing at the idea of money wheels inspired by TV shows like Wheel of Fortune. This time around, they’ve thrown in more bonus rounds and multipliers than ever before.
Treasure Island Live is all about a large, segmented wheel. Players are expected to wager on the results of a single spin, which is a common feature among many Live casino games. However, the wheel is also key to participating in one of no less than six bonus rounds – more than almost any other casino game show.
The main game studio – and especially the bonus rounds – are all themed around Treasure Island, the acclaimed adventure novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Several characters from the novel make an appearance in-game, namely Long John Silver, Captain Flint, and Billy Bones.
Pragmatic is already established as one of the premier providers of high-production live dealer games, so we won’t spend too much time praising the graphics. The studio, stream quality, and overall presentation are all flawless and do a great job of bringing you into the world of Treasure Island. However, there’s a lot of ground to cover with the gameplay and rules, so let’s dig right into our Treasure Island casino game review.
HOW TO PLAY TREASURE ISLAND BY PRAGMATIC PLAY
Pragmatic Play Treasure Island is played using a large wheel divided into 64 segments. In every round, the presenter spins this wheel, and the flapper at its top lands on one of the segments. This determines the outcome of the round.
As you might expect, players bet on which of these segments is going to be the result. There are nine betting positions in total. We can call three of them ‘main bets’, while the remaining six are all used for triggering one of six bonus rounds.
The three main bets are simply referred to as Gems. One of them is green, one is yellow, and one is red. These are arguably the simplest bets in the game – if the flapper stops on a segment with the same colour gem as your bet, you win.
However, every gem has a range of potential payouts. The payouts for each of them are randomly determined after the betting period ends.
- The yellow gem (Topaz) pays between 1x and 10x, but appears on most segments with 21 in total
- The green gem (Emerald) pays 1x to 20x, and appears on 14 segments
- The red gem (Ruby) pays from 3x to 50x but appears on only 8 segments
Furthermore, gems can appear in pairs. Two gems of the same kind pay double the payout, while mixed-colour gems allow two types of bets to win.
Bonus Rounds
As mentioned previously, there are six bonus rounds in Treasure Island by Pragmatic Play. To play them, you have to make a wager on the corresponding bonus, and then the right wheel segment has to win. The bonus rounds include:
- Wild Collector designates a randomly selected area of the wheel. All of the Gem multipliers within that area are added together and paid as a lump reward. This bonus round appears on 3 segments of the wheel.
- The Great Scavenger appears in 4 segments and also awards a one-time lump payment. However, its value is determined using three mini-slot machines. Each slot determines the number of lights that appear over all three types of Gems. The Gem multipliers are then multiplied by the respective number of lights and added together.
- Ben’s Lost Marbles is based on RNG and appears on 3 wheel segments. Essentially, a number of marbles are dropped from the top of something similar to a pinball machine. The marbles bounce around barriers and fall into pockets dotted around the board. Every marble that ends up in a pocket contributes a certain multiplier, which are all added together. The number of marbles dropped is determined by a dice roll at the beginning.
- John Silver’s Loot works like a small bingo machine filled with different-colored balls. Each ball contains a multiplier based on the main game’s Gem multipliers. 10 balls are drawn, and their multipliers are added together as the payout. A black ball reduces the number of balls drawn by 5. This bonus game is quite volatile and only appears on 2 wheel segments.
- Billy Bones Map appears on 2 segments and has the potentially highest payout in the game. In this bonus round, you interact with a big wall of hidden tiles. You get to pick 5 squares – if you don’t, they’ll be picked for you. If you only find Gems, their multipliers are added up. If you find three keys, you reveal one massive win. All winnings in this round are also multiplied by a randomly chosen value at the start.
- Captain Flint’s Treasure only appears in one segment but has the highest average payout. In it, you get to progress down a game board by selecting barrels with hidden values. Each barrel reveals either a multiplier or a skull. Multipliers increase your winnings, while skulls immediately end the game. The first three levels can’t have skulls.

TREASURE ISLAND BY PRAGMATIC PLAY – CASINO BLOKE’S VERDICT
Casino game shows need to be eye-catching and innovative to succeed. Unlike some types of casino games, you can’t just copy successful ideas and call it a day – most Live casino games have a fairly long shelf life.
With that in mind, the Preamgaitc Play Treasure Island casino game brings a lot to the table. The moments of player interaction during bonus rounds are especially interesting – it feels nice to be in control that way, especially because most titles of this kind don’t offer anything similar.
The whole Treasure Island theme is also a nice trip down memory lane, especially considering how well it was brfough to life through good graphics, costumes, and other types of movie magic. Al in all, this is one of the more interesting game shows we’ve seen in recent years.
