INTRODUCTION

In November 2022, Playtech’s portfolio of Live casino games expanded to include something completely new and exciting. Just like many other hit games that are taking over the Live casino scene, it’s a colourful, bombastic title that aims to stand out from the crowd through specific rules and a distinct visual identity.

The Greatest Cards Show is a game-show-like live dealer game based around a single large wheel. Unlike the name implies, no playing cards are involved. However, the release is packed with special features and exciting bonuses to discover and win!

HOW TO PLAY THE GREATEST CARDS SHOW

Playtech’s the Greatest Cards Show has a simple premise that’s not too different from their Adventures Beyond Wonderland game.

Every round, the dealer will spin one large, horizontal wheel. The wheel is divided into 54 segments, marked as playing cards. Your goal is to predict which segment of the wheel the pointer will land after it stops spinning.

Beyond that, understanding how The Greatest Cards Show works is mostly down to understanding the special features.

As far as the basic main bet goes, it always pays 40x. You can (and should) place multiple bets per round. Furthermore, the UI allows you to place many bets at once quickly and easily. For instance, you can bet on all segments with a Spade card suit in a single click.

However, remember that this is just the way multiple bets are grouped. Unlike roulette, no single bet covers multiple numbers and adjusts the payout to match the odds of winning. Every bet always covers only one segment and always pays 40x. Covering multiple numbers means you’re making multiple bets.

Casino Bloke Best tips for The Greatest Cards Show Live

  • 1If the pointer lands on the Joker segment twice a row, the payouts from the resulting mini-game are substantially increased. This can happen many times over, and the reward grows exponentially every time.
  • 2You can use the circle-shaped interface on the left to target large sectors of the wheel. In fact, all of the segments of the wheel are placed in order of suit and value.

EXTRA FEATURES

Live casino game shows such as this one sink or swim based on their special features. We’re not surprised to see Playtech coming out with no less than 3 bonus mini-games. Let’s dive into how they work.

Every round, up to 12 wheel segments are marked by silver and gold outlines. Marked segments are revealed only after the betting period is over, though. If you make a bet on one of the highlighted segments and win, one of these minigames will launch instead of the regular payout.

The Spotlight Bonus Game kicks off if the pointer lands on a silver-marked segment, which is somewhat more common than the gold one. Essentially, three random multipliers are selected and displayed on the screen, ranging from 50x to 2,000x. Then, one of the three multipliers is picked and paid out to the lucky winners.

The Light Show Bonus Game is triggered by winning a bet with a gold outline. You first have to pick one of three colours. Three light spots will then dance around a computer-generated grid on the screen. Your winnings depend on where your chosen light lands and the total multiplier can be anywhere between 50x and 5,000x.

The Joker Bonus Game starts whenever the wheel lands on a Joker segment. The dealer will then spin the wheel again. If you win a bet in this second spin, you get to participate in the bonus round. Just pick one of the four card suits. The suits will then “battle” each other by juggling. If your card suit beats the other three, you’ll get the biggest multiplier. If not, prizes are also awarded for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.

PAYOUTS

Main bets in The Greatest Cards Show always pay 40x. Unless a bonus round kicks off, that’s what you’ll get, no matter which card you bet on.

The Greatest Cards Show bonus games are much more volatile, though. They’re ruled by RNG, too, so there’s no real way for you to improve winnings on purpose. The Spotlight and Light Show games pay up to 2,000x and 5,000x, respectively.

The Joker is much more complicated, though. If you participate in the round you’re pretty much guaranteed a win. However, if your card suit loses both juggling duels, you might win as little as 20x.

That said, if the pointer lands on the Joker twice or more in a row, all payouts from the Joker game are increased. There is technically no limit to how many times this can happen in a row, which means that the maximum payout in The Greatest Cards Show is enormous.

what we like

  • Horizontal, roulette-like wheel that makes it easy to target specific groups of cards
  • Unique gameplay not available anywhere else
  • Top-notch studio design and presentation
  • Plenty of bonus game variety

what we don’t like

  • Bonus games feel a bit dry because they lack player interaction

THE GREATEST CARDS SHOW (PLAYTECH): CASINO BLOKE’S VERDICT

As a casino game, The Greatest Cards Show is certainly interesting. We always welcome fresh ideas, but there’s something about it that feels unfinished. When it comes down to it, The Greatest Cards Show plays like roulette with less RTP and a few flashy quirks.

We don’t want to knock Playtech’s effort too much, though. We’re still looking at a unique, well-made product that can keep you entertained for hours on end. We doubt it will be a threat to titans of the genre like Crazy Time, though.
