INTRODUCTION
Whether expected or not, Quickspin’s Big Bad Wolf slot turned out to be quite a hit. Bearing the theme of the famous story of Three Little Pigs, it offered multiple variations of Wild symbols and bonus rounds, each corresponding to a different piggy. In fact, the series was so successful that Playtech even turned it into a Live casino game. There are currently five Big Bad Wolf games in the Quickspin portfolio, and Pigs of Steel is set up to become the best one yet.
Well, the Piggies are back once again to face the Big Bad Wolf. Aptly named Pigs of Steel, this Quickspin release introduces various improvements across the board. We’ll get into the gameplay and new features in a second. For now, we’ll start with the visual improvements. Although the same sense of cartoony style is still present, everything is just a bit more colourful and fleshed out. The central characters also look much better thanks to improved artwork and better effects.
In this Big Bad Wolf Pigs of Steel, we’ll dive into all of the other improvements and new features. We’ll explain how they all work, whether the game is worth your time, and where to play Big Bad Wolf Pigs of Steel for real money.
HOW TO PLAY BIG BAD WOLF PIGS OF STEEL
The base game of Pigs of Steel is standard fare for online slot games. It’s plated on 5 reels in a 5×3 grid with 25 active paylines. Wins are calculated whenever you hit three or more matching symbols along these paylines, going from left to right. In a way, this means that the latest addition to the Big Bad Wolf series does not stray too far from the original. At least not as far as the core game systems are concerned.
Bets start at $0.20 per round, with $100 being the highest possible bet in the slot. You can win up to 18,173x the stake.
Crucially, the game also features Tumbling Reels. Otherwise known as slot cascade features, reel tumble means that all winning symbols are removed from the game. Symbols above them tumble down and take their place, and new symbols fall down from the top of the reels. This opens up space for new winning combinations, which in turn causes new cascades. Symbols will keep tumbling for as long as there are winning lines, which applies to both the base game and the bonus rounds.
EXTRA FEATURES
The main game features in Big Bad Wolf Pigs of Steel online slot are Bonus Games (of which there are three variants), Win Multipliers, Piggy Wilds and Pigs of Steel.
The entire game revolves around the concept of Tumbling Reels, which play a crucial role in various aspects of the game. These cascades not only allow the Pigs to transform into Piggy Wilds but also activate the Pigs of Steel feature and assist in triggering Bonus Games.
For starters, we have Piggy Wilds. Pig symbols (regular high-paying symbols) can transform into Wild symbols on the second, fourth, and sixth consecutive Tumble in the specific sequence of red, green, and blue pigs. By observing the grid, players can easily identify which pig is due for transformation.
The Pigs of Steel feature serves as a sort of protection from the Big Bad Wolf. The wolf attempts to blow the house down, which can end Cascades. To unlock the first protective layer, players must eliminate a minimum of three Pigs from the screen through Tumbles. As you continue to clear six Pigs, you get additional layers of protection, allowing cascades to last longer.
BIG BAD WOLF PIGS OF STEEL BONUS ROUNDS
You can activate Free Spins by hitting 3, 4, or 5 Scatters anywhere on the grid. Although this will always grant you a total of 10 Spins, the number of Scatters you collect will determine the Multipliers.
There are three choices available: the Bonus Game, Super Bonus Game, and Ultra Bonus Game, each offering Win Multipliers of 1x, 2x, and 3x respectively. In all Free Spin rounds except for the Ultra Bonus Game, the Piggy Wilds will reset after each spin, while the Pigs of Steel will only reset during the Bonus Game spins.
You can use the feature buy button to instantly trigger the Bonus Game or the Super Bonus Game for 60x or 240x the bet, respectively.

PAYOUTS & RTP
The Big Bad Wolf Pigs of Steel slot game is quite volatile with a moderate hit rate. In practice, this means that you can expect to lose money on an average spin. However, you can win big if you string together a few Cascades or a lucky Bonus Round. Still, it’s a traditional slot layout with only 3 rows and 25 active paylines, which is something to bear in mind.
Game Symbols include the usual low-paying card symbols which pay 1x-2x, axes and trowels paying 5x, and pigs paying between 15x and 25x for a match of 5. Conversely, most smaller symbol combinations will not cover the cost of the stake, though it’s important to remember that you can win several after tumbling.
The highest potential win in the game equals 18,173x the stake, which can be hit through the Bonus Rounds.
Finally, Big Bad Wolf Pigs of Steel RTP is 96.14% at its highest. There are lower-RTP versions available online, and we highly recommend that you avoid those.
what we like

BIG BAD WOLF PIGS OF STEEL BY QUICKSPIN – CASINO BLOKE’S VERDICT
Overall, the Pigs of Steel online slot game is easily one of the strongest in the Big Bad Wolf series. And that’s saying something.
Let’s start with the good. Everything was improved across the board, including the visuals and UI. We also quite enjoyed the features – especially the whole Pigs of Steel protection. The Piggy Wilds are also interesting because they add a degree of predictability, which is the opposite of what many modern slots are doing. The bonus rounds are also quite nice, though a bit generic.
‘A bit generic’ is pretty much the only real complaint we have about the game. Quickspin could have done a bit more to distinguish this game from the rest of their portfolio. That said, Big Bad Wolf has always been a game made for wide appeal, so we’re not surprised it’s not more innovative.
All in all, a must-play if you enjoyed the previous Big Bad Wolf slot games. If not, we can still safely recommend that you at least try it.
