INTRODUCTION

Evolution Gaming’s Live Ultimate Texas Hold’em is a Live casino table which pits the players against the dealer. Every player receives the same set of card at the beginning. However, what they do with those cards is the difference between everyday punters and experienced high rollers! The stream quality is one of the best we’ve ever seen. It delivers all the action in glorious HD, making this game a treat to play.

The RTP for this release is 99.47%, assuming perfect play with no side bets. The game is played with one 52-card deck without any jokers. The deck is reshuffled at the start of every game round. Players can use several side bets to spice up their gameplay. First is the Trips bet, which pays if your final five-card hand is a three-of-a-kind or better. There’s also the Blind bet, which we’ll discuss in more detail further down in the review.

HOW TO PLAY LIVE ULTIMATE TEXAS HOLD’EM

Before a round can begin, players must set their bets. You will see a pop-up appear in the middle of your screen, with several coins to choose from. Clicking or tapping these coins will select them, and allow you to place them on whichever bets you want. Since this is a live game, you have a time limit before the round begins.

The dealer draws two cards for you and them. Here, you will be offered to up your Ante by 4x or 3x. Alternatively, you can wait for the dealer to reveal the first three cards. Once you have more information, you’re once again asked to choose. Either bet 2x of the Ante, or wait to see the fourth and fifth card. Once all cards are on the table, you may either bet 1x the Ante, or Fold if you think you’ll lose to the dealer.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Ante pushes if the dealer has less than a pair. If the dealer fails to qualify, you don’t get the win. It’s a push; meaning punters just get their money back.

EXTRA FEATURES

A regular Ante win will only pay 1:1. To make up for this, the game automatically doubles your wager into the Blind side-bet. Provided the dealer qualifies, the Blind side-bet will give you the actual wins you want. You’re always opted into it, since Blind bet is attached to your Ante bet. Cross your fingers, and hope you get a strong poker hand!

Your second side bet are the Trips. It’s an option bonus bet, which pays if you have a three-of-a-kind or better in your hand. Unlike Blind bets, the dealer doesn’t have to qualify for you to get a win. In fact, you can even lose the main hand, and still win the side bet! All that matters is meeting its requirements.

PAYOUTS

Of course, side bets are fine and good. What we want to know is what sort of payouts do they offer? The Blind side bet seems like your best bet at first. After all, it pays 500:1 for a Royal Flush. At the same time, it’s limited by the dealer qualification. You could have a royal flush in hand, but it wouldn’t count if the dealer failed to qualify.

Instead, try your luck with Trips! It’ll pay you 50:1 for a Royal Flush, but you’re guaranteed to get that money. You don’t have to worry about winning the main hand, or the dealer qualifying. If you have the right cards, your win is secure.

what we like

  • Amazing stream quality
  • Fun variation of the familiar Texas Hold’em rules
  • Interesting side bets with awesome wins

what we don’t like

  • One deck means waiting for reshuffling on every round
  • Blind side bet seems like a needless complication

LIVE ULTIMATE TEXAS HOLD’EM (EVOLUTION GAMING): CASINOBLOKE’S VERDICT

Evolution Gaming’s Live Ultimate Texas Hold’em shows that poker can be just as fun when played against a dealer. Don’t get us wrong, some things do get lost in translation. You really can’t bluff the dealer; since they’re not going to back down unless the rules say they have to. Still, if you’re willing to meet it half-way, this game has a lot of exciting moments to show you.
