INTRODUCTION
The ever-growing Lightning family of Evolution Live casino games just got a new member. Hot on the heels of Lightning Dragon Tiger and Lightning Sic Bo, this exciting new title mixes the famous Lightning numbers with a lottery-like game involving numbered balls and tickets. Of course, Evolution’s capacity for visual flair is also here in all its glory, turning the game from boring old bingo into an exciting online game show.
If you’re familiar with earlier Lightning games, you’ll have a rough idea of what this iteration is going to involve. Similarly, if you know even the basics of games like lotto or bingo, you’ll get your bearings quickly. In short, Lightning Ball is a fast-paced experience with virtually no learning curve, so you can get right to it.
Dedicated fans of Live casino games may also notice that Evo already did something similar in the past. 2023′ Lightning Lotto is pretty much identical in concept. However, the newer Lightning Ball is generally less volatile and offers a lower maximum payout. However, it also has higher RTP and better profits overall, so it seems like an overall improvement. We can’t be sure without a comprehensive Lightning Ball game review, though, so let’s get right to it.
HOW TO PLAY LIGHTNING BALL LIVE
The gist of Lightning Ball is simple. The presenter draws numbered balls from two drum machines. Players buy tickets containing 6 numbers each. If you’re lucky enough to match at least two numbers on one ticket to the balls being drawn, you win. The more numbers match, the bigger your prize. That said, the game does innovate on the standard premise of bingo.
The first thing that stands out is the fact that two separate machines are in use. The bigger or “standard” machine contains 30 balls with numbers ranging from 1 to 30. 5 balls are drawn from the standard drum in every round. On the other hand, the smaller dum is called the Powerball, and it contains only 10 balls numbered from 1 to 10. Only one Powerball number is drawn in every round.
Players can purchase up to 200 tickets per round, each containing 6 numbers. The five white numbers correspond to balls drawn from the “standard” drum, while the gold-coloured sixth number correlates to the Powerball. As such, the best possible result is matching all 5 numbers from the Standard draw and also the sixth Powerball number.
Beyond that, the Powerball number is functionally no different from the others. It still only counts as one “hit” for the purposes of calculating payouts. However, it comes up in the game’s main distinguishing feature – the Lightning round.
Lightning Round
As in every Lightning game released so far, certain results can offer better prizes than their base value.
In every round, 5 Standard numbers are randomly selected and shown on the screen behind the presenters. A multiplier between 2x and 50x is randomly selected and applied to all five, as indicated by the lightning strikes.
Then, one ball from the Powerball is selected and also enhanced with a multiplier. If the Powerball matches the power number on a ticket with at least one other regular number match, the Lightning multiplier is applied to that ticket, boosting your winnings.
Casino Bloke Best tips for Lightning Ball Live
- 1Only six numbers are drawn each round, which means getting a winning ticket is harder than it sounds. We recommend spreading your bankroll out and purchasing multiple tickets every round instead of concentrating on a small number of high-stakes tickets.
- 2That said, you only need 2 hits for a win, which is relatively easy in the world of online bingo.
- 3In the end, though, Lightning Ball is a game of pure luck. You can’t do much to influence the outcome, so just be careful about your spending, and remember to have fun.
PAYOUTS & RTP
As we mentioned previously, payouts in Lightning Ball are determined by the number of hits on a single ticket. The game simply multiplies the stake used for that specific ticket and pays out an instant prize.
All winning results, ranging from 2 numbers to all 6, have a specified base payout. This is the reward you receive if you win the ticket with no Lightning Multipliers. However, if you’re lucky with the Lucky Numbers, you can receive a substantially higher amount. Every possible outcome also has a maximum potential amount it can reach through multipliers.
- 2 winning numbers on a ticket have a base payout of 2x but can be increased up to 50x
- 3 winning numbers on a ticket have a base payout of 5x but can be increased up to 250x
- 4 winning numbers on a ticket have a base payout of 15x but can be increased up to 50x
- 5 winning numbers on a ticket have a base payout of 100x but can be increased up to 5,000x
- 6 winning numbers on a ticket have a base payout of 889x but can be increased up to 50,000x
Lightning Ball RTP sits at 97.03%. This is a pretty strong payout rate compared to most gambling games out there – especially bingo and lotto. It’s also an improvement over Lightning Lotto.
what we like

LIGHTNING BALL BY EVOLUTION – CASINO BLOKE’S VERDICT
Although fans of Lightning games may have been hoping for something else, Lightning Ball is generally a great game. Sure, it’s pretty much just an updated version of Lightning Lotto. But not every game has to be endlessly innovative and creative. Sometimes it pays just to go back to old titles and see how you can improve them, so we admire Evo for what they’re doing here.
Needless to say, the presentation and visual aspects of the game are near-perfect. That’s pretty much to be expected from any Lightning game (or any Evolution game, to be frank.) However, our praise for the game is not just skin-deep. The only true difference between Lightning Lotto and Lightning Ball is that the math model was changed a bit. Overall, we feel that Ball is a definite improvement.
Why? You win more often, for starters. Decreasing the numbers needed for a win to 2 was a great move, even if the maximum payout had to suffer as a consequence. Ultimately, the game simply outshines most others in its genre in terms of RTP. It’s nowhere near Blackjack, of course, but 97.03% is still remarkably high for online bingo/lotteries.
Push comes to shove, and Lightning Ball is fairly forward and open about what it is. If the concept sounds interesting to you, we can safely recommend it.
