INTRODUCTION

Many of us are quite familiar with baccarat. It quickly spread across casinos, becoming one of the primary live dealer games present on every website. However, no release remains unchanged forever. Players may want titles to be simpler, or they might be looking for bigger wins. Dragon Tiger delivers on simplicity and gives you plenty of smaller options to fool around.

Pragmatic Play’s Dragon Tiger is not new or unique. However, it does offer more side bets than any other Dragon Tiger game on the market. Casino members can bet whether a drawn card on either side will be big or small, or if it will be odd or even. Additionally, this version has quite a few roadmaps that players can use. The game will even helpfully highlight how many times each side won for the last one hundred or so rounds.

HOW TO PLAY DRAGON TIGER

Each round starts with a brief betting round. Choose one of the available coins listed beneath the betting table, and place them on fields you want to play. You can see what other players are wagering on thanks to a percentage overlaid on the main bets. Once you finish placing bets and side bets, wait until the timer runs out for the round to begin.
All bets on the table after the timer runs out will be played.

Next, the dealer will draw three cards. The first card is discarded and is then set aside in a separate pile. The second and third cards are drawn for the Dragon and Tiger positions, respectively. The cards are drawn face down, meaning we cannot see the result immediately. After a few seconds, the host flips the face down cards and reveals what lies beneath.

The winning side is determined based on who has the stronger card. Card values are set based on the numeric value of the card. The ace is worth one point, which is the least valuable card. Number two is worth two points, and so on. Then, letters J, Q and K are worth eleven, twelve and thirteen points, respectively. If both sides draw the same numbered card, this results in a tie.

EXTRA FEATURES

Available side bets in Pragmatic Play’s Dragon Tiger include Big, Small, Odd, Even, Red and Black. Each side bet can be played for the Dragon or Tiger card. In the interest of saving time, we will cover certain side bets together.

Big pays if the card dealt on the corresponding side is eight or higher. In case you draw a six or less, you lose the Big bet. However, the opposite is true for the Small side bet. It pays if the drawn card is six or less, and loses if it is eight or higher.

The Odd side bet pays if the drawn card is an odd number. This includes A, 3, 5, 9, J and K. The Even side bets wins if you draw 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and Q.

Finally, Red or Black side bets pay if the card dealt on the corresponding side is either red or black. All three side-bets pay 1:1 when won.

You cannot place side bets as you like. For example, you cannot place opposing wagers on the same side. That means you cannot bet Dragon Red and Dragon Black simultaneously. However, you can wager on Dragon Red and Tiger Black at the same time. Additionally, side bets will be disabled after 50 rounds have been played. When the deck is reshuffled, the side bets become available again.

Finally, Pragmatic Play’s release comes with multiple road maps. These can be used to keep an eye on trends from previous rounds. Keep in mind that any patterns you see are not guaranteed to happen. Still, you can occasionally use them to score a win or two you might otherwise miss.

PAYOUTS

Most of the time, side bets are the ones that grant big wins. However, Dragon Tiger does things a little differently. The two primary main bets, Dragon and Tiger, both pay 1:1 when won. If you want to win bigger sums, you have to play Tie or Suited Tie wagers. To win a Tie bet, the two cards need to have the same numerical value. It pays 11:1. Suited Tie pays 50:1, but requires two matching cards with the same suit.

what we like

  • Simple, easy to understand gameplay
  • Six side bets
  • User interface is easy to use

what we don’t like

  • Can feel boring at times due to its simplicity

DRAGON TIGER (PRAGMATIC PLAY): CASINOBLOKE’S VERDICT

For fans of Dragon Tiger, Pragmatic Play’s game is an excellent addition. Does it bring anything brand new to the table? Sadly, it does not. Instead, it offers side bets you cannot get in other live dealer releases. If that sounds like something you would enjoy, we definitely recommend trying this release out.
