INTRODUCTION
Pragmatic Play’s Live Blackjack is an excellent, old-school Live casino table. In an era of games where an unlimited number of players can play the same hand, Pragmatic Play chose differently. Instead, their release offers a more intimate atmosphere with seven players and a dealer on a single table. The developers put a lot of effort into stream quality, allowing players up to 4K quality if their connection can support it!
The RTP for Live Blackjack is 99.50%, assuming you play perfect strategy. That means no side bets! Dealers stand on all seventeens, both hard and soft. If you decide to play side bets, two are available for you to enjoy. Perfect Pairs tasks you for matching the best possible pair of cards. Meanwhile, 21+3 asks you to form a three-card poker hand with your first two cards and the dealer’s face up card.
HOW TO PLAY LIVE BLACKJACK
When a round begins, you will be asked to place your bet. Choose one of the available coin values, and place them on the wagers you want to play. You cannot play side bets without placing a wager on the main bet. You must complete your betting before the timer runs out. Any wagers on the table when it runs out will be accepted and played.
After the betting period ends, the dealer will start drawing cards. Two cards are drawn for every active player position, as well as two cards for the dealer. Of those two, one will remain visible in a face up position. Now that you have your cards, you can decide if you want to Hit, Stand, Double or Split. Pragmatic Play’s Live Blackjack uses Vegas rules. That means you cannot double after splitting, and split aces can only hit once.
Once all players have finished making their decisions, the game will check if anyone has gone over 21. This results in a bust, which is an automatic loss. If neither side busted, then the side closer to 21 will win. If both dealer and player hands have an identical sum, the round will result in a push.
EXTRA FEATURES
In Perfect Pairs, the goal is to get a pair with the first two cards that you draw. While any pair will do, you get better rewards if the pair has matching colours and suits. The best possible prize is for a perfect pair, which pays 25:1.
21+3 seems complicated at first, but is easy to understand after playing it. The game will check if your first two cards and the dealer’s face up card form a valid three-card poker hand. If so, you will receive a cash prize in accordance to the paytable! The best possible outcome is to draw suited trips, which pay 100:1.
Should the unlikely situation occur where all Pragmatic Play tables are full, you can also Bet Behind other players. This allows you to bet money that your chosen player will win the round.
PAYOUTS
A shot at winning a 100:1 prize is appealing but lowers the RTP of Live Blackjack too much. The optimal choice for punters is to stick to main bets. In that case, your biggest win will be 3:2 for blackjacks, and a 1:1 payout for all other wins.
what we like
- 4K stream quality
- Fun and rewarding side bets
- Excellent RTP
what we don’t like
- Limited numbers of players per table
- Bet Behind feels boring
LIVE BLACKJACK (PRAGMATIC PLAY): CASINOBLOKE’S VERDICT
If you are looking for an experience closer to real world blackjack, Pragmatic Play’s Live Blackjack is an excellent entry. The limited number of spaces on each table leads to a more social experience. Outside of that, the game offers the same exciting blackjack we have enjoyed many times. Definitely worth checking out for blackjack fans!
