INTRODUCTION
Roulette is a fantastic game, though one that has been around for hundreds of years. As such, players are always finding ways to mix things up. Sometimes, we employ different strategies to keep things interesting. Other times, we opt for roulette variants that change up the gameplay. That is exactly what we get with Pragmatic Play’s Mega Roulette and its exciting multipliers.
The table follows European roulette rules, meaning it only has one zero. Other thirty-six numbers are split into red and black zones. The zero gets its own colour, exempting it from all outside bets. The user interface is designed wonderfully. It highlights what numbers are affected by multipliers, and makes placing wagers easy. Players can also use the racetrack to place several side bets.
HOW TO PLAY MEGA ROULETTE
Your first step in Mega Roulette will be to place bets on the playing field. Pick a coin that matches your budget, and then place it on one or more numbers. You can bet on numbers directly, or a combination of several numbers at once. Players can decide which option suits them better. However, multipliers only apply to direct number bets. All other wagers pay as normal, and cannot be boosted.
Bets in this game can be split into outside and inside bets. Outside bets cover a larger portion of the wheel, making them more likely to win. Inside bets cover fewer numbers but offer better payouts as a result. These wagers are not exclusive, meaning you could play both inside and outside bets in a single turn.
EXTRA FEATURES
The multiplier available in Pragmatic Play’s release is assigned randomly. Up to five numbers on the betting grid are selected to receive a special multiplier. This ranges from 50x to 500x. That means even the least valuable multiplier can offer fantastic rewards. If you win the multiplier, you only receive the multiplier value. Your initial stake is kept. Multiplier wins can only be awarded to direct number bets.
Outside of that, we can benefit from racetrack bets. These are 0 Game, Voisins, Orphelins and Tiers bets. These wagers cover multiple numbers on a specific portion of the wheel.
Players can also choose to play neighbor bets. This will place a straight number bet on your chosen number and two numbers adjacent to it both left and right. You can choose the number of neighbor numbers that will be wagered on using the plus and minus buttons.
PAYOUTS
You can access a statistics page with all kinds of useful information. It is toggled off by default, but you are always one tap away from opening it again. You can use it to find hot and cold numbers and set how far back the game should check. By default, Mega Roulette will check the last 50 spins.
If you want safe wins, you should opt for outside bets. Red/Black, Odd/Even, and High/Low all cover eighteen numbers, which is almost half of the betting field. However, their payout is just 1:1. Column and dozen bets cover twelve numbers and pay 2:1. Neither option can benefit from multipliers, which is the main appeal of this game.
Inside bets mostly follow the same pattern. The fewer numbers they cover, the better their payout will be. You can see inside bets and their rewards listed below.
- Line – 5:1, covers six numbers
- Corner – 8:1, covers four numbers
- Street – 11:1, covers three numbers
- Split – 17:1, covers two numbers
One major difference from standard European roulette is the reward for straight number bets. Wagering directly on a number and winning without a multiplier pays 29:1 instead of 35:1. This is how Pragmatic Play is able to provide boosted payouts. The decreased payout sucks, but the possibility of winning 499:1 is tough to pass up.
what we like
- European roulette wheel
- Wins up to 499:1
- Breathes new life into the roulette formula
what we don’t like
- Default straight number bet payout is decreased
MEGA ROULETTE (PRAGMATIC PLAY): CASINOBLOKE’S VERDICT
Pragmatic Play’s Mega Roulette is not the first time we have seen roulette with multipliers. Both Evolution and Playtech have launched their own versions, each with its own quirks. If you enjoyed either of those two options, you will like this table, too. This release does not bring any new ideas, but it is an awesome experience none-the-less.
